Vision Science Undergraduate Research (ViSUR) Program is an intensive 8-week summer program, for undergraduate students interested in vision research. Participants will hone their capacity to discover, innovate, and collaborate by immersing themselves in some of the exciting research currently happening at the Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science.
Undergraduate students will have the opportunity to work in a lab with a faculty advisor on a research project. In addition to working on a project, the students will attend regular seminars with other summer undergrad students across campus and with their T35 students.

UC Berkeley’s Friday Visits give prospective students an opportunity to meet with an Admissions staff member, a short tour of our facilities, and the opportunity to shadow a Pre-Clinic course.

Students can opt for virtual or in-person 30 or 60 minute sessions

OptoCamp is a free, 1-week virtual summer camp where students can learn more about the profession, connect with Berkeley staff, faculty and students all while engaging in projects together around the field of Optometry.
OptoCamp will run from Monday, June 9 – Friday, June 13, 2025.

STL, a non-profit organization that provides vision screenings to the public, is hosting a mission trip in Oakland, CA on October 12, 2024.
STL is looking for volunteers to assist the doctors. Deadline to submit is September 8th.

The best part is that there is no prior experience required! Students will be trained in a variety of skills in pre-testing, optician and technician work, front-desk reception, and more.
